The bombs fade away
with your red sash, yet I know
Big Brother remains
The bombs fade away
with your red sash, yet I know
Big Brother remains
when we blink out in
the same untimely instant -
duprass journey’s end
those fish were late, the
years picked me clean long ago
nothing left but bones
i want our tangled
limbs, your mouth, the fragile roar
of your fingernails
Unstuck in time, yet
I can’t escape memories
of the slaughterhouse
Each night I pray that
my children will never know
hunger or arrows
if my name had been
first out of that flaming cup,
would cedric have lived?
As the stag’s light shines
and warms the night, I know my
father would be proud
mig14 asked: Are you going to write a Mockingjay haiku? The Catching Fire one is beautiful. The Hunger Games one is also good, but the CF one brought tears to my eyes.
I haven’t read Mockingjay yet, but I’m planning to start it soon (I just got a copy over the weekend). As soon as I read it, I’m definitely planning on writing a haiku. I’m so glad that you’ve enjoyed my writing! That’s always very nice to hear.
when my arrow tore
the sky apart, i lost you
somewhere in the black
When the muses came
and stripped me of my sex, they
took all but my name
in that last moment
i weighed my honor against
my children’s safety
though I can hear the
serpent’s song, I know I am
a true Gryffindor
If they let us live,
I hope you’ll forgive me for
not loving you back.
